mexico city - 35mm film.
for our last anniversary (10 years, guys) we took a mini road trip to big sur and it was heaven. we stayed at treebones resort in a secluded YURT, i told you - heaven!
we drove aimlessly along the windy roads until we found a stairway that led to a vacant beach and by vacant i mean, a beach with a sign that said "do not enter" - oops! it was slightly raining and felt like the gods were pouring a bowl of mist over us and into the ocean. we got cozy on the rocks and opened a bottle of wine and waited for the rain to chase us away.
if you have not been to the esalen hot springs, you need to put it on your bucket list right now. they have a public night option available for only $30. you drive down the very dark highway until you arrive at the institute with about 20 other people, they go over the rules 1. no talking 2. no phones 3. shower before entering 4. clothing optional. the world is pitch black, still and silent with only the moon and the dim stars shining on our naked bodies. the hot springs are on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the ocean, faceless strangers peering out into the blackness below and the crashing of the waves humming us all into a deep meditation.
Photos are from my canon film camera and from my 5d mark iii, both camera's were stolen recently r.i.p.
Happy October! I would advocate for pumpkin spice lattes and pre-christmas cardigans but eh, it's 90 degrees, so maybe pumpkin spice lattes on the rocks?
I hung out with my beautiful friend Amber and her fiancé Johnny, they are getting married in Hawaii next year, yay love! We wandered around the arts district, danced in the streets and ended the night eating ice cream.
People say New York is too full, too dirty and too mean. I think they're wrong, whoever those people are. I will live here someday, I'll let you know the truth then. For now, I'll stick to believing that New York is the city of dreams.
Way back in October (seems like a week ago) gustavo and I visited this city again. We stayed with a friend and slept in a little living room in a little apartment and it was perfect. Here are a few pictures I snapped while we were adventuring our way through the city.
Our first night in New York we had tickets to the "secret" Arcade Fire aka The Reflektors show in Brooklyn! It was a dress up in costume concert, so extra fun! We saw them at the Capitol Records show in LA, a few weeks later. I don't know how we got so lucky, okay now I'm bragging. Sawwy!!
October 21st was our 9 year anniversary (WOW!!!) and gustavo planned a big day of traveling the city. We visited museums and ate hot dogs in Central Park and walked and walked and walked. gustavo said that there was a "coffee shop" he wanted to take me to in Brooklyn, so we took the metro and walked a little more until we walked right into the
- Ah! It is the cutest hotel my eyes have ever seen!
Our room was AMAZING, we had a window instead of a wall facing out into Manhattan. Speakers on the roof and did I mention how cute it was? I was a happy camper.
We then had dinner plans at
for our anniversary, it was so so delicious. They even brought us a little plate that said "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate and complimentary champagne! After dinner we walked down to the Brooklyn Promenade and enjoyed the city lights of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge.
We approached this circle of candles and he brought me into the middle and said, "do you know what is about to happen" and he got down on one knee and proposed. I think I was in shock because I don't really remember anything else.
We walked back to our cute hotel wide eyed and excited for our future. We ended up carving our names and the date on a wet cemented street that was blocked off, like little criminals. We stopped by a liquor store and bought a bottle of champagne and spent the night celebrating, drinking at the rooftop bar and dancing in our hotel room.
The next morning we had coffee and orange juice delivered to our room and soaked in the view from our window. It was magical.
I accidentally stopped blogging again, sawwwy. It feels like I took a deep breath in July and just started exhaling, slowly and suddenly it's October. Fall is my favorite, so I'm welcoming this month with a big grandpa sweater hug.
I was promoted in July, so that might be where all my time is going. I'm super excited I'm moving up and the entertainment business is an exciting business to be in, that said, it's tough as nails. I think that's a saying. Anyway, I feel like a little kid that is still trying to figure out what they want to be when they grow up, except I have a lot less time to decide. Gotta get it together!
My friends and I went to FYF at the end of August and it was the most amazing festival. I don't think I took a single picture but had the time of my life. I think I'll find a few instagram / iphone photos of highlights from the last few months, ya know just so you're caught up with my life.
Found a new favorite brunch place downtown,
Went camping for the first time as an adult aaaaand I must say, it was very relaxing. Dancing in the mountains with your friends is a lot of fun. Drinking on a boat in the middle of the lake ain't bad either!
Hanging out at the beach gypsy tent style.
Vegas trip with friends! We stayed downtown at the Golden Nugget and swam in the pool with the shark tank, pretty scary.
is now in LA!!!
We saw Vampire Weekend with Beirut and The XX at the Hollywood Bowl. This is what we saw from the cheap seats.
That's the short version. I'm still head over heels for this city, but a big part of me is craving New York. I'll at least satisfy my craving with a visit to NY this weekend, eeek I'm pretty excited about that!
I accidentally stopped blogging for a long time, oops. I hate when I do that. Well, it's July now. I'm not even sure that June happened, after May it went straight to July! Someone should tell the universe to slow down.
My friends and I took another trip to Mexico, that was Memorial day weekend (in MAY)! I have lots of pictures to share so I'll try not to disappear again. What have you all been up to? I've missed the blogging community. I hope everyone has a FUN 4th of July, YAY for fireworks lighting up the sky!
Here are peeektures from my Mexico trip from my film camera! I'm hardly in any of the pictures, I'm usually the one behind the camera & I like it that way.
(OMG at this wall/door - here's an awkward one of me woo)
Greetings. It's Monday again (boo) but it's rainy and windy in Los Angeles (yay)! I wish we treated rain days like snow days, they are so rare in LA. We should be able to stay home, read and cuddle all day long, is that too much to ask for?
We went to an Adam Green (The Moldy Peaches) + Binki Shapiro (Little Joy) show last week at The Echo.
drove up to go to the show with Gustavo and I. We danced in the golden hour and ate tacos at good ol' Taco's Delta. YUM! I could probably eat tacos for the rest of my life, forever.
Check out how cute
is dancing around in the Silver Lake sun.
Happy Monday to you!
Here's a little Ets-piration! (has anyone invented this word yet?) I defintley spent some time swooning and drooling over tons of Etsy treasures this weekend. I bought my momma a
, make sure you guys don't forget about your mommas, it's coming up!
I was so inspired by all the amazing Etsy shops I stumpled upon, I should start doing an Etsy post every week. Hmm. I may or may not have purchased the shoes below (defintley did)!!
+Vintage Shoes -
+Foxes Dress! -
+Peter Pan Collar Dress -
Make sure to check out all the shops above! Some are handmade with love others are handed down with love, either way there's a whole lot of vintage love happening here and I like it! Hope you all have a great week!
Oh, concert season I love you. You force me to buy band t-shirts and make me broke, but I love you. I have this thing, where I
to buy a t-shirt from every concert I go to (unless they're overpriced, like over $25 is too much). I really only wear them to bed, but I just
to have a t-shirt, I can't help it.
Last week my friends and I saw The Postal Service (eek!) and Sigur Ros in the same week, both amazzing. We saw Sigur Ros in Santa Barbara on Friday night, it was one of the most amazing experiences, the shirts were $35 so I'm still a little sad about that.
We made our way up to Solvang on Saturday morning to eat lunch and start a wine tasting adventure in Los Olivos! It was my friend Cami's birthday (she's the cute one, with the awesome backpack bag below) so we wine tasted until we were dancing with strangers and lighting sparklers in the night.
lol at these cool kids
follow me on
Vacations are a dream and last weekend was a cold and rainy beach house dream. My boyfriend and I drove down to Mexico with his mom to visit a beach house in Rosarito they just bought! We only stayed for two days but it felt like a nice long week, filled with beach exploring, day napping and really good food.
Oh Mexico, you treated us well and we will be back soon.
I am so happy it's April, all the flowers are sprouting out of the ground and the world is a little brighter. My love and I drove to the desert to visit my family for Easter. I spent time with my grandma looking through old pictures of her as a little girl and pictures of my great grandparents, man they were so hip! It's amazing to see photos of where you come from, pictures from past generations living in a different time.
Driving on the way back to Los Angeles, we drove down windy roads and farmlands. I wanted to stop and take pictures of everything, but we were on a time crunch (had to get home to watch Game of Thrones season 3 premiere duhh)! The clouds and colorful skyline looked like a dream, I wish I could have captured it.
Have a happy April, play a silly prank on someone and laugh about it.
pictures of me & my love.
